The “comprehensive” coverage is a term that can be applied to a variety of insurance products. Refers to the coverage offered by a particular policy rather than a type of policy. Were most often used in commercial general liability and insurance home , but may be, in some cases, used in auto insurance also.

General Definition
When something is large, denotes that there is something similar that is less broad. In fact, extensive coverage is so called because it provides a wider coverage than the basic coverage level. Both are named policies against risks, which means that only cover losses from a specific list referred to in the policy. The wide policy, however, contain more than the basic form covered risks. This general principle applies to other cases where comprehensive coverage used.

Homeowners Insurance
The two simplest types of homeowners insurance homes are basic and widely.  Comprehensive coverage extends the list of risks covered to 17, adding hazards such as broken glass, the weight of ice and snow, falling objects, and some water damage to the existing core list.
Commercial general liability
Companies face a variety of hazards that can vary by industry, so you need a liability policy that provides standard protection with the ability to endorse some other hazards to the policy as needed. Therefore, many of the commercial general liability policies are written broadly. They start with a list of hazards that are common to many types of industry, and then endorse the necessary risks to meet the needs of a specific company.

Auto Insurance
In some cases, comprehensive coverage can be applied to car insurance too. An endorsement called “comprehensive coverage driving another car” allows people with access to a company car to be protected when the company vehicle for personal use. The commercial auto policy protects the company against liability incurred by the driver, but can not protect the driver directly unless an endorsement applies to a wide coverage. With this support the driver is protected against liability claims, regardless of when the company vehicle used.
